cannot find PCI device

If I go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > DeviceManager I have:

- COMPUTER
+ item
+ item
+ item
(down to🙂
- ? (yellow) Other devices
?&! (both yellow) PCI Device

I cannot figure out what this device is to try and fix. I have reinstalled all PCI cards and it hasn't made any difference. Any ideas!

I used to have a sound card that had telephone answering services.
But I only loaded audio drivers and never loaded the telephone drivers.
And so I used to get the same yellow flags that you have.
(Windows was looking for phone drivers.)

I didn't have the phone drivers so I just disabled the yellow device
so wouldn't have to look at it.

You may have something similiar.
If its not a card, it may be on your mobo.

Are you using a PCI sound card? If so, make sure the onboard sound is disabled on the motherboard.

That won't matter, you can have as many sound cards installed as you want. Well, if Windows does have a limit I don't know it.

Motherboard drivers perhaps? (could be a temp sensor device or one of a zillion mb devices that show up on the PCI bus)

Yes, but you still need a driver for each one.

I understand that. Zenobia was asking what was up with the yellow ?/! I was suggesting that if he was using a PCI sound card but did not disable the on board sound, WinXP will be looking for a driver, hence; the yellow ?/!
