Moron Update:
The wireless device was recognized out of the box. I just had to look for the network settings.
However I had two problems with the included GNOME 3 environment. One, it couldn't actually properly configure the wireless settings. Two, it was unstable.
I tried the Fedora distro from a mirror link on their website, and I guess that's why nothing was included.
Then I tried the Fedora DVD that came with a book I just bought, and when selecting the configuration it said components were missing when selecting GNOME 3.
I flattened it out and tried KDE, and it appears stable.
Wireless works, no ndiswrapper needed.
yum updates and installs work out of the box.
I do see why KDE seems weird to minimalists. It's just plain weird. I love Windows 7 and it's all it's glossy glory, but Ubuntu is the only thing that comes close with Unity.
So I think once I get more comfortable with Linux, I'll try LXDE.
