i am not a doctor, but that sounds like a Bad Thing

I am going to talk to the Doc after the holidays. Until then, I am staying away from the alcohol all together. Really no big deal to me, about the only time I drink is at LANs and if I am too wired to sleep.

you should ask your doc for a prespcription for epinephrine (adrenaline). it comes in little saftey injectors and could save your life if you have an allergic reaction (which you now appear to be prone to)

and yes you can develop allergies at any time

It can happen. After my last knee surgery I am now allergic to novacaine and all medications in the caine family. Trips to the dentist at this point are in no way fun or non painful.

just start with something else, like pills

have same kind of effect and they have less calories

enjoy all kinds of benzodiazipenes

woot!

Found this on the web

What contains almonds (amande)?
- marzipan, almond mocha, almond paste, almond guy ding, trout almondine, pure almond extract (artificial is okay), amaretto

What can happen during an allergic reaction to nuts?
An allergic reaction to a food usually begins within minutes but may be delayed for 2-4 hours and usually lasts less than one day. The more severe the allergy, the smaller the amount required to cause a reaction. Typical immediate allergic reactions to foods include hives or blotching around the mouth which may spread to the rest of the body, immediate runny nose, sneezing and itchy water eyes, coughing, choking or gagging, wheezing and trouble breathing, and cramps, vomiting and diarrhea. The allergic reaction can stop at any stage, or may progress to anaphylaxis and death. Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction which involves several parts of the body and can lead to death.

Sounds like you're allergic almonds (may be hazelnuts in the amaretto also). My wife is allergic to walnuts, peanuts, and hazelnuts. Throat starts getting scratchy and her face gets flushed. Not good. She can eat cashews and almonds without any trouble though. Has to do with the proteins in the nuts, which obviously are unique to the particular variety of nut.

try a little bit of beer or some other kind of alchol, just a little to test stuff out, u know make sure

Yea, but that's meant for an emergency, such as when you accidentally ingest something you shouldn't. I don't think it's medically safe to use it like that whenever he wants a beer.

Ok, so last night I got in from work around Midnight. We had our company "potluck" dinner as well, and I drank lots of coke and tea, which means I was not going to sleep anytime soon. So to counter the effects of the caffine, I had a sprite with a couple of shots of amaretto mixed in. after a few minutes my face felt really hot, itchy, and really funny. My wife came in from the kitchen with me a little snack and just froze.........................

She looked at me funny and asked if I was feeling ok, I said for the most part I was, but my face felt funny. She got her little compact mirror from her handbag and showed me my face. It was swollen and red, and I mean rudolf the red nosed reindeer red, and I looked like I just lost all 10 rounds with Hollyfield. My eyes were becoming little slits, my nose turned stuffy, and i felt like my face was on fire.

Well, i wasn't sure what had caused it, so i drank some ice water and after about an hour, it settled down, so I drank some more sprite/amaretto, and it started happening again. So I quit the drinking and stayed strictly with the ice water.

Woke up this morning and felt fine, face back to normal, and I threw away what little amaretto I had left.

I called the Dr, and he basically told me to not drink ever again, because I now run the risk of having my throat close up on me, and dieing a very painfull and slow way.

So, Ulfwald cannot drink anymore. 🙁🙁🙁🙁

If I were you, I would go and see a specialist. Allergies are very complicated things, but there is a chance that it is not as simple as "i cant drink any more"

Are there any university centers near you?

Just my 2 c.

Maybe the problem was...

You drank lots of caffeine.
Then you drank more sugar water with a depressant alcohol in it.
You didn't stop there and drank more alcohol.
Then you drank water.

DON'T mix stimulants with depressants.
