cannot delete/move random avi files!

Hi - for some reason occasionally I just simply cannot delete/rename/cut/move/etc. random avi files. It's always an avi. Like there's one that hasn't been accessed for probably a month - and yet it still won't allow itself to be deleted. I kinda remember hearing about some windows bug that caused this. Anybody know how to fix this? OS is XP SP2.
