cannot change my password

HI
I had forgotten my password so got one sent out.
I then went into my account to change it to a memorable one.
The "new password" fields were blank but when I fill it in and press update I just go back to the same page and the password remainsd the one sent out to me.

How can I rectify this?
 
Try shutting down antivirus/security programs - then go to your profile and update. That seems to work for most folks. Good luck.
 
oh dear - staying defenseless on interweb to change the password on a computing forum?
That can't be right, surely?!?!?!
