My burner is driving me insane.

I can't burn any DVD-R or DVD+R with success anymore. Worked before I updated my hardware and reinstalled Windows XP. I can burn DVD-RW without any problems. I can burn CDs.

I've tried the following without success:

Burn DVD-R in 4x speed.

Tried different media.

Uninstall Nero and tried a different burning application (CDBurnerXP). This application gives "device error 197120" when the burning is done.

Unplugged all IDE HDDs except the burner and made sure the burner is runnig in UDMA mode. Changed IDE cable.

It feels like I've tried everyting except the burned in another computer.

My question is really, can be the burner be broken? Feels like a software bug since it can burn everything except DVD+-R...

Relevant HW & SW info:
Windows XP
ASUS P5K
NEC ND-3551 v 2.03

I changed from a AMD system to Intel, so pretty much everything except the DVD burner and 2 HDDs.
