I have a friend who also picked up the game today, and it activated fine for him. Currently I am downloading the game through EA download manager and hopefully that works...

It must be some software on your computer or something. No one else seems to be having this problem, or at least I couldn't find any related results on google for any parts of the error.

And just finished installing from EA download manager with the same result. Back to EA tech support. Yaaaaay! 🙁

lol funny/sad thing is the pirates have been playing the game already, and the poor saps who preorder and get the game on the first day can't even play!

aint that some shit...

Maybe you should jump on a torrent site and find a cracked exe for the time being?

Why do people still give EA cash for ANY PRODUCT? They've shown countless times they fucking HATE their customers.

I stopped given a single penny to them since they got exclusive rights to NFL and Madden.

Fuck em. Vote with your wallets. Stop taking this shit people.

Must be a way to encourage people to Buy Retail. Probably for Business relations, but also to save themselves Server Costs. Pretty crappy for the Consumer in any event. This is why Steam will continue to become larger, their serious competitors are just incompetent(MS/EA).

Just another fine example of these companies not paying attention to the details. Glad you finally got to play the game.

Well that was a pain, but I have to say they did resolve the issue pretty quickly so I won't hold it against them.

They resolved an issue that shouldn't be there in the first place. If you buy a new car a the bumper falls off as you drive away, it's probably going to be covered under warranty and fixed quickly but it still shouldn't have happened. You're totally justified in holding a small grudge against them. Between this and the Crysis 2 multiplayer activation problems it sounds like EA is really starting to fuck up their game activation system. No bueno

I agree that it never should have happened in the 1st place, but what's most important is that they resolved it quickly. Especially when compared with something like Black-Ops which was completely unplayable for me for about 3 months. To expand on your car analogy, yes the bumper should not fall off, but if it does do you want to deal with a company that replaces that bumper the same day, or a company that makes you jump through hoops and drive bumperless for 3 months? I prefer the latter.

I think you mean "the former." 😛 The latter means that you prefer the second option - driving around bumperless for three months and jumping through hoops.

Uhhh why would a physical copy of the game have a date restriction? To prevent people from breaking into the freaking store and stealing it before release date? How is that even an issue worth preventing with this nonsense? And why is it set to the wrong date?

EA is a scurge upon gaming.

Um because different regions have different dates?

Asia and Europe have a different release date than we do on alot of titles.. this just happens to be one.

So for some reason the code he was given was for one of those regions.

So I have three different EA games installed, Bulletstorm, Battlefield Play 4 Free, and Crysis 2. And have three different directories. EA, EA Games, and Electronic Arts. What sense does this make? BC2 and ME2 are installed thru steam or Im sure Id have even more.

Market studies have shown that a company gets better approval ratings if they have small problems which they quickly remedy beyond the customer's expectations than if nothing were to ever go wrong in the first place.

Being told that you can't play the game because it's not available until 4/5/2011 (even though it was already released) isn't exactly a small problem. It's the kind of problem that, even if it was resolved immediately, would probably prevent me from purchasing a game from that company until it had been out for at least a couple of months so the bugs are *hopefully* ironed out.
