Is it a legal copy of windows?

Have you blocked script, activex, popups from running? WinUp needs these

Yes. As for the other options I've been updating my windows for years and years. I have not changed any options lately to my knowledge.

If it was working, and you haven't changed any browser settings, it could be:

* needing to authenticate your XP (that valid copy check that the parrot crowd cracked after a couple of days)
* virus / spyware / adware / trojan messing you up
