I have a home network of 5 computers. All are running WinXP Pro SP/2. They all have the "Shared Documents" folder enabled with no password needed. They all have "Files & Printer Sharing" enabled. They are connected through a switch or router ( I use a NetGear router with a switch plugged in.) I just upgraded my computer 2 weeks ago. I have Windows firewall turned off and running Sygate Firewall Pro. At first other computers could not see mine. I noticed a box in Sygate's Network Neighborhood option not checked, checked it and now all computers can see my computer in My Network Places. But to rule Sygate out, I have disabled it, so no firewall is running on my computer at all.
Ok, all computers can see my PC. When you access it they can see the "Shared Documents" folder, but can not access it. They get the "... is not accessible. You may not have permission to use this network resource." My computer can access everyone else's "Shared Documents" folder, but none can access mine.
The only strange thing I see is this. When I open "My Network Places" on my computer, I see all the shared folders on the network. If I open mine, it opens and shows content. But, if I click on "View workgroup computers", then choose my computer and then click on "Shared Documents", I get the same message, "...is not accessible. You may not have permission to use this network resource." ???
My computer consist of:
1GB Corsair Memory
AMD A64 3200+ processor
ASUS A8N-E motherboard (nForce4 Ultra chipset)
Integrated nVidia Ethernet
I have tried many suggestions found from online searches, but have not been able to correct this. I'm hoping to get new, fresh feedback. Thanks!
