If you can widstand the pain for a few moments, I put salt into the sore ... after that, no more pain for a while and it heals pretty quickly too.

haha thought about that..but ah! if it gets too bad then maybe i will. its already been four days so hopefully the cycle will be ending soon. : /

and these were caused by me biting myself. TWICE in two diff locations. once when eating rice. once when eating peanuts.

swish around some warm salted water.. it'll make some of the pain go away after a brief $tab (i can't believe i can't say that word) of pain.. no biggie...

also to make them go away faster, eat some yoguart.. something about the stuff in it something something... etc..

You can buy some camphorated phenol over the counter and apply it to the affected area. The pain relief will be incredible, but it only lasts for a very short while. Still, at least it will make eating easier..

Mix 1/2 salt and 1/2 baking soda, put a pinch on it and scrub like hell.

After you see god, it will quit hurting. Done every couple hours, it will make it go away really quickly.

Buy some Orajel. Its a oral pain releaver. Also get some hydrogen peroxide and swish with it or use a Q-tip and rub it on your sore. I had braces for 3 f%cken years. Many a canker sore I had...

Try anbesol - seems to be the best in cutting the pain fast and get you speaking like a normal person again. I used to get those little buggers when I had braces too. ouch!

You got an aspirin or tylenol, rub the pill against it.

ive tried almost every homemaker's remedies... the best solution--well, its the only one that works--is swishing salt water. itll lessen the irritation for a good few minutes

anbesol and other oral cremes only numb up your lips for a while, and then it starts hurting like hell again

There are many theories, from vitamin deficiency (can't remember which one) to allergic reaction to a common ingredient in toothpaste. However, the thing that worked for me was being a bit more careful.. Especially while brushing my teeth when half asleep. No more knocks on the mouth= no more canker sores.

Oh, and whatever you try, don't bother with Bonjela. Absolutely useless...

when I had braces i got a prescription for some medication called Kenelog (spelling?) It worked great! generally after using it the sore would be gone in a day or two.

Got a couple a few years back when I was stressing over some financial matters. Apply salt on them, will hurt like hell, but the salt will dry them up and they will go away.

This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Those drugs don't work at the site of the pain. They work by affecting how your brain percieves the pain. Applying them directly to a canker sore would do nothing.

Especially since they're coated.

If you have an aloe plant available, break off a piece and apply the ooze to the sore. It doesn't taste too bad. The bigger leaves taste bitter. So as not to waste the rest, apply to any other sores on body. It is eatable. Works for me.
