Damn! I have a canker sore. It's in the most painful spot that it could be in....right at my gum/lip line. BAH! Anyone know a NON-PAINFUL way to get rid of them?

Im the only one in my family that seems to get them...never remember my siblings having them...even as a kid.

I honestly just poor salt on them until they heal up...works everytime...painful as hell though so may not be your thing

canker sore != cold sore

Well no sh!t Sherlock! That still doesn't help me.....lol

Hey now hey now! I'm trying to defend your honor here, unless you really have the herp, in which case... my condolences 😛

Anyway, webmd says that in extreme cases, dentists can prescribe an antimicrobial mouth wash. My mom just tells me to rinse with a warm cup of salt water. Other than that, you just gotta wait it out.

Well Damn. Maybe I just won't talk at work....lol...

Go get this stuff from your drug store called Gly-Oxide (active ingrdient: Carbamide Peroxide)....it hurts a lil bit at first, but it makes it so they dont hurt for a while and heals them quicker.

Gurgle warm salt water.

I have done this in the past and was surprised at how it didnt sting at all but felt soothing.

The sore was gone like the next day.

There is some OTC vitamin that you can buy and it gets rid of them pretty quick. I forget the name, but as soon as I get home I'll take a look and find out the name if I can.

I use Kenalog with ora-base. It cures them up within a day or two. I used to have braces and this is what the orthodontist recommended.

there is no way to get rid of them except time. and canker sores are not due to the herpes virus.

I used to get a canker sore on the bottom of my tongue every month around the same time (hormones can help cause them, some people think). Alot of people suspect it's related to an allergy or sensitivity of some sort. I switched the Rembrandt Canker Sore Relief toothpaste. It's stupid expensive -- 7 or so dollars a tube-- but I rarely get them now and when I do, they are smaller and go away quickly.

how does salt help? and how much time does it take to heal with salt as opposed to letting it heal by itself?
