I am going to call later tonight I guess, when I am out of work. I want to cancel my Nextel service with Sprint. My bill as of right now is $0.

I am not in any binding contract, and I have my work cell (iphone) as my main phone now. I kinda feel bummed since I've had the number since 1999 though.

Is there any issues I should be worried about? Hidden fees? Scams?

Ah cool. I keep thinking it's going to be a hard process. Going to be nice to not have a 2nd cell phone in my pocket all the time.

They might put you on hold and offer you other deals and things like that to try to frustrate you or keep you, but just politely say, no not interested and they'll typically take care of things pretty simply.

Bastards. I didn't want to hassle anymore and just paid it. I despise sprint. In 4 states their service is garbage. Every where I go I get horrible reception and dropped calls. To the point of where it's just unbearable and I just couldn't stand it anymore. I changed to AT&T and it's a dream compared to sprint. Service everywhere I go.

 Are you sure you were actually out of contract? I've never had any such probems cancelling service when contract terms expired. Usually retentions will offer me some decent incentives to stick with them. This includes every one of the major carriers.

You are going to be on hold forever.

They will probably make you finish out your billing cycle.

You are going to be on hold forever.

They will transfer to someone who tries to save you, then you will be transferred to the department that can actually cancel you.

You are going to be on hold forever.

With Sprint this would be a nightmare. With Verizon it would be a painless, 2-minute call. No idea where Nextel fits into the mix (though isn't it now part of Sprint? If so, welcome to hell!).
