so i'm canceling my current dsl (covad) to get verizon dsl....i called to cancel tuesday night to have it disconnected for wednesday....but its now thursday afternoon and i still have service from covad (i.e. i can still log in and surf, etc.). i called covad yesterday about the issue and they said that i should no longer have any service by the end of wednesday evening...this is just a lil strange and i'm a bit worried too since i have to order with verizon by 2/28 in order to get the promo. however, the other service provider has to be off the line before verizon can provision it; if not i have to reorder and probly wont get the promo

any opinions or past experiences?

also should i stop using the service?

I used to have SBC DSL and cancelled it. It took them just over 4 weeks to shut it off. I was able to use the service for that entire time and was not billed for it.

Call them up one last time and document the call by recordning it and telling them that you want the service turned off by a certain date. This way you have proof if they bill you.

i've checked my connection and it has been working for the last three nites and i've called covad each nite telling them that i still have service. they said its being cancelled and i should soon no longer have any service....tech guys said it was a "glitch" and that they're updating their system to remove me. so i dunno what else to do...everytime i call they say it says that my account is cancelled. i'm just worried i have to reorder the verizon service and no longer get in on the promo...

btw well my billing cycle actually ends 3/4 so i cancelled it b4 hand; if they bill i'm gonna be b!tch!ng and telling them they need to handle cancellations better
