Canadians...let's vote in a minority government

I'm serious. No matter who gets in, I think the best way to get things done would be to ensure that they only get a minority government. They'd be one vote away from another election. Also, make sure to let any other party know that if they attempt to form a coalition government, we'd eliminate them like the federal PCs in the early 90s or the Ontario NDP in '95.

I've been toying with the idea of setting up a website that people could register at, that would calculate the best possible votes to make in any given riding to ensure that a particular party got only a minority government. For example, in this election it's very possible the Liberals will win. So the website would calculate which ridings were sure-wins for the Liberals and let people know, but not do further analysis on those ridings. It would then focus on the competitive ridings to show people if they voted for another party, that they could beat the Liberals in that riding and it would take regular polls to see the outcomes in those ridings and to let citizens of those ridings know whether they should stay with their vote or change to another party to ensure the Liberals don't win in that riding.

Agreed about the minority government. But it should be a relatively weak one too, not just one where the Liberals are just missing two seats or something, as the PC Party has been very coy about what role they'd play in that situation (they seem very eager to hop right in with the Liberals).

In all honesty though, a weak minority government would probably be defeated on a non-confidence vote pretty easily. In addition, a minority government is bad for the economy/currency (well, that's in the toilet and getting worse anyway).

However, I do think that the CA would need some adapting time before they're ready to head the government (I remember reading that the first part of Clinton's administration was quite shaky as the Democrats were not used to being in power) and the Liberals under Jean Chretien must not receive another majority government. Simply, they do not deserve it.

I'm surprised. I thought the CA would gather up support in areas around Toronto. They've traditionally been Reform. But the other day all I saw were blankets of red Libiral signs even in Reform strongholds. Stockwell Day sucks (that's my personal opinion). I think the rest of Ontarians agree...he's bad for the party.

Not that I would vote for the CA, I would definitely prefer Day over Manning as the leader.

No minority government please. Minority governments don't last and we'll end up going back to the polls in 6 months. A slim majority, like we have now, would be the best, IMO.
