How would you feel about the hypothetical concept of merging our two currencies? Say Canadians and Americans formed a committee, so the new currency would have an equal number of Americans and Canadians on it.

i don't see why it would be split 50/50. we are 300 million. you are 33million.
even california by itself has slightly more people than you

thats right, the governator rules over more people than the head of canada;)

How so? Increased trade and freedom of economic movement will benefit both of us. It's not like Canada is some impoverished third world country that will sap the US of jobs and labor. The only real difference between Americans and Canadians is how we pronounce the letter "Z"

I'm not discussing merging the to countries, in this thread at least, just the two currencies.

it would be less trouble for you to just adopt the dollar. control of a new currency would be based on size of economy and population, meaning canada would have no say anyways.

i doubt it. do many Americans visit and buy things in Canada? not even close to the population of Canada. if Canada adopted the dollar fine, but it would make both Canada and America less independent.

We are two different countries. Personally, I like it that way. Merging currencies
would not only cause personal problems, but also political strife.

I'm a Canadian, not an American.

Actually, we are a constitutional monarchy, not a republic and having Her Majesty our queen on our money is a primordial facet of Canadian identity. Long may she and her successors reign as Canadian royalty.:wine:
