Canadian view on accessibility to guns

The first high school shooting that was widely reported led to tougher gun laws in Canada. Previously, you could just goto a store and buy a firearm, like the US.

Of course, the Canadian comments are much more favorable to the current climate where access to firearms is limited.

I think Americans can learn a lesson here and see that firearms don't directly equate to liberty.

How will more restrictions on legally obtained guns reduce violence caused by illegally obtained guns?

Most gun free zones are a silly idea as well (unless every person entering will be checked.) If some one wants to go to a public place to kill a lot of people they aren't going to worry about whether the gun was obtained legally nor will they worry about bringing a gun into a gun free zone.

Gun restrictions in Canada are not for the safety of the people but the safety of the Monarch.

The origin of restrictive gun laws in Canada is not a school shooting, but the FLQ terrorism and Quebec separatism. Rights were lost in the name of terror. When will they get them back? When the peasants are too afraid to take on the government... never. When the government controls culture, media, etc... never.

I think Americans can learn a lesson here and see that firearms don't directly equate to liberty.....until they do....again. An armed populace is much more secure in its liberty than one that isn't. We may never need them again by the time the sun sets on the US as we know it, but their presence will have served its purpose many times over. It is who we are as a people - ingrained at the very start of our nation.

In case you forgot Prohibition was repealed by a constitutional amendment. Dont like the 2nd amendment then get the constitution amended and remove it.

They like it when we have ships full of food pulling into their ports at our expense. They like it when we're inoculating their children at our expense. They like it when when we open our markets while theirs are closed. They even like it when our tax dollars pay for their abortions.

If it was up to me, all this horse shit would cease and we'd let the rest of the world fend for themselves. They hate us now, they'll hate us then. We might as well save some money in the process.

What the hell is it with this myth that you can "just walk into a store and buy a firearm"? To buy a firearm in the US you must:

1 - Provide a government-issued photo ID with proof of age.
2 - Pass a Federally-mandated background check (NICS).

It's not like you walk in, take the gun off the shelf, pay, and leave.

My statement is based on one thing and one thing only. That being that I would never interject my thoughts into the Canadian political process. I don't live there, it's not my place to do so.
