I think Oxford is correct, but Mini is still owned and operated by BMW.

Right, which was my point about Jaguars being Tatas. I'm sure a Jaguar owner will not like their car being compared to a Tata Nano ^_^ (and they do not share anything except both being owned by Tata).

 I have no doubt that Jaguar quality will fall quickly under new ownership, unlike the Mini. Quality improved dramatically after BMW bought the company. (as compared to the last model years built...IIRC, in the 60's)

The old Mini Cooper was not so dependable...nor very attractive. Then again, the NEW Mini isn't all that attractive...unless you're a fan, then they're cute as hell. 😉

I don't like cute things, I don't think any guy should drive anything cute.

My next car is the Lotus Evora, it's a little smiley but it's just pure awesome so I will forgive it.

I believe BMW has a part in some the ultra high end Minis (the ones built for track), and they assuredly had a hand in the engineering of the Mark 2 (current generation Mini platform), but it doesn't have any Drivetrain, chassis, or platform shared with any of the BMW vehicles. It would be surprising then to see any smaller parts being shared across the brands as well.
Ok, so then my Mazda 3 is much closer to a Ford because it has the Ford F1 platform and a Ford drivetrain?

lol ATOT are such awesome law abiding citizens. I bet they all go 65 on the freeway on the right lane in their fancy schmancy sport cars even when everyone else is doing 80.

Probably (I think you mean Ford C1 platform), though I'm pretty sure the Mazda 3 platform was developed by Mazda, Ford and Volvo in conjunction and named as a Ford Platform.

Ford Fusions on the other hand is a bit more of a Mazda than a Ford, as it uses the Mazda 6 platform, which was designed and developed by Mazda, but uses Ford Engines (it used to use a Mazda engine and Mazda transmission too).

Same applies to the Lincoln MKZ, Mercury Milan.

Ah yes, C1 platform.

Cops use their personal judgment all the time when deciding whether or not to ticket someone for speeding. "But they were technically speeding" isn't good enough for me... especially since the cops went out of their way to target this group.

I find it hard to believe that this group of mini's was posing a threat to public safety... which is, after all, the real goal of law enforcement. To protect and to serve, eh?

So, a large convoy of vehicles speeding through a 90 km/h zone is not a threat to public safety?

You know, I'd like to call my Camry the 3/5s of a Lexus LF-A. It's not a complete lie either, especially since it's basically a Lexus ES already. ()🙂

But yea, that would still be lying to myself.. :sneaky:

My Penor is 1/2 Black. That's no Lie, the Ladies kinda Like me.

OPP? They were lucky they didn't get the cars towed. Fantino (OPP Chief) is trying to go back to the good old days. He even repainted all the OPP patrol cars back to black and white.

I guess I don't understand the rant here. When I was heavily into VW's we would do our charity runs and we made it clear that speeding was strictly prohibited and to obey all traffic laws. I can understand if it was a charity type event but don't speed. It's plain and simple.

They were driving for charity. Who knew that the charity would end up being the Ontario Provincial Police? 😛

Are you people serious? "Don't speed dumbasses?" Really? Are you people retarded? Going 120kmh in a 90kmh zone is like going 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. And nobody EVER goes 55 mph - that's simply dangerous. If anyone here thinks this is less than the mini drivers being made an example of, they are simply brain-damaged. Everyone knows this.

Then stuff like this pisses me off:
Mini drivers had their children with them and that the OPP had called the Canadian equivalent of child services on the parents.

Speeding bad yes. All the other shit they did wtf!

WTF are you talking about? Going 30 km's over the speed limit, when in a fucking convoy no less, is completely moronic. They are dumbasses and deserved to get speeding tickets.

Going 90 in a 90 zone is dangerous. Hilarious. 😀

Fixed.

Your police department doesn't write for 20mph over?
