Canadian Netflix sucks

I don't know what you guys have for a movie selection on Netflix down there, but the selection here is terrible. I was using a friend's pass over the weekend while he was staying here, and we had a hard time finding a movie that any of us wanted to watch. The selection is basically what you would find in the cheapest Walmart discount bin, with a few recent titles thrown in here and there. I didn't check out the TV shows, but I imagine it is the same.

A quick Google search tells me it has something to do with Rogers. Figures.

Has anybody used both (US & Canada) and can comment on the quality difference?

Has to do with the fact that Netflix doesn't have the broadcast rights to air those movies and shows here in Canada. The CRTC still functions on an outdated model. iTunes had the same issue breaking into Canada. Of course Rogers and Bell want to keep it that way because they want you watching content on their TV service.

What really pisses me off is that all the video rental places have now closed down. So online is the only option, or pay-per-view. I wonder why Rogers closed down Rogers Video? :rolleyes:
