actually i fulfill most of the gay stereotypes that don't relate directly sexuality. how can you assume all gays dress well? that seems kind of far fetched.

you missed my entire point. if it's obvious you are gay - sure people will make judgements but in a lot of cases it won't be obvious right off.

and why is that a point you feel the need to make? you are merely stating the obvious.

to make a direct comparison to the civil rights movement of the past in my mind belittles that movement b/c the hardships of the current-day homosexual pale in comparison to the hardships of the black person of the past. you seemed to be arguing the contrary earlier.

to quibble over the direct comparison to the civil rights movement of the past to my mind belittles the hardships faced by past and present day homosexuals. I don't agree that the hardships faced by current-day homosexuals pale in comparison to the hardships faced by the black person of the past. In many ways (and depending on location) the hardships faced by the homosexual person in 2005 are at least as gruesome as the hardships endured by the black person of the past.

i don't want to get into gritty details here but the kind of widespread hardships faced by african americans was much much worse than anything going on now. sure there is violence against homosexuals - but it's not to the same level. since i'm not a part of either group in question here i feel my opinion is more unbiased.

you are almost certainly ignorant about the kinds of hardships faced by gay people in the usa and in other countries, and therefore your opinion on this matter isn't something I am going to place much stock in.

then you also just discredited any statement you made about the hardships of black people by that line of reasoning and hence you can't discredit my comparison of hardships. your deep involvement doesn't allow you to be rational - if i was as ignorant as you'd like to think i am i could take this experience and run with it and build up a healthy dislike for homosexuals since they think i'm ignorant anyway. way to divide! your attitude is getting you no where. waiting for - "well you can take any support you have for gay rights and shove it!!!" that's the general response right? i'm glad i don't get this feeling from everyone or i'd have to tell anyone with a cause to go fvck themselves b/c they think i'm too ignorant to understand.

Yeah birth rate is dropping across basically most of the white countries because the people simply have dropped religion and resorted to perverse behavior. The women in Italy or Spain are too busy with work to have the time to raise a child. Thats why those countries are being overrun by hordes of Arabs and others. That is why the most popular name in Netherlands is Mohammed.

By the way, there is a reason why militaries across the world want gays to keep quiet about their sexual orientation. They want the military to be a enviroment where there are no distractions and the goal is to simply defend the country and kill the enemy. But when gays are marrying and open about it in a certain unit for example, that is a major distraction for the soldiers in that unit. There is no question about it. Keep all that stuff out of the military and let the soldiers serve.

The duty of humans is to reproduce. In fact, the duty of all creatures is to reproduce, thats why so many animals go to such great lengths to mate and reproduce. Gay marriage is a step backwards to reproducing. I don't care about gay marriage or any of these issues simply because I am not affected, but I know that it will have a negative impact on family. I like gays in fact, there is this cudly fuzzy gay guy where I work and he is very open about it. Many of my co-workers don't seem too thrilled about it, but I don't care. In fact, he and I are good friends. Heh, hes also a dancer.

The west has lost all meaning of the term traditional family. At least in the large cities such as San Fransicko and Old York City. But I'm glad family is viewed as a good thing in other parts of this country. Hope is all but lost for Europe, however. Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, England have all raised the white flag and have surrendered to the invading hordes.

But there is a glimmer of hope however, Ireland is one of the few countries which has a pretty good birth rate and the concept of family is not tarnished there. Lets just hope and pray that continues.

not having a zillion kids does not equal "viewing family as a bad thing" - i can't speak for all of europe b/c i dont' know families there but i recently returned from greece and they have a concept of family that almost no american would ever understand. it's a beautiful thing that i wish i had experienced growing up.

Those were also the reasons to keep Women out. Probably the same reasons were used to segregate Races at one time. I don't think they're totally unreasonable concerns, but llike any change after a period of transition people will accept it and it won't be a distraction anymore.

It's not about rubbing it in, it's about celebrating a new aspect of Freedom. Much like Martin Luther King day isn't meant to rub Equality in the faces of Southern US Whites.
I really don't like it when people compare gay marriage to slavery or other substantial rights movements in the past.

This issue comes out of state recognition of marriage. Not because gays have any less rights than any other person. While i sympathize with their case as under today's current laws and system, the government should have no reason not to wed them. My problem is with why the state feels the need to recognize this term...it is very divisive with absolutely no benifits to society.

One interesting point, the US constitution has no mention of God, and our loyalty to him, whereas in Canada, our constitution is based on the word of God.

Right at the top of the Charter:
Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law:

I wasn't comparing the actual Movements, just the celebration of the Day of realizing the goal of the Movements. I would agree that the 2 Movements are different in Scope, as the Civil Rights movement of MLK was pertinenent to a much larger segment of Society, but also to a segment that had fought hard and long for those Rights.

"Marriage" is not a Religious Institution, but an Institution created by Governments of the Past. Prior to that No Church or Religious "Wedding" existed.

No, the Canadian Constitution is not based on the Word of God. Re-read what it says, "...recognizes the Supremacy of God...", different meaning entirely.
