I went to get some cheap cd-r's at my local drug store (more like a super drug store, London Drugs in Western Canada) and I noticed a note in the CD-R section that said they will be collecting a 21 cent per (14 cents US) CD-R/CD-RW 'Levy'. I guess this is the start of the price hike.

Cheers,

Ya. That friggin' Sheila Copps. Does this mean that because this levy is supposed to compensate music and game developers for pirated copies that we can now LEGALLY copy music and software?

Haha, welcome to the club :) We here in Finland have payed that (called "teostomaksu" here) ever since CD-R(W) was invented :) And the reasoning behind it is !"¤¤#%&!"#¤!"#&"!¤#"%!!!! umm... it sucks :)

You act as if you've never seen something like this before. There are countless situations where law/rule obiding people pay more for services/products to compensate for the people who don't obide by the laws/rules.
