Canada?

I'm on Winter break until early Feb with really no plans. Decided a trip was in order. Doesn't seem fun to go to other states and Mexico isn't interesting to me. Canada isn't really either, but it's bigger? Anyhow, any recommendations for things in Canada. I'm 18 by the way...

Overseas trip require a passport that I doubt I will get in time to make a trip during this break so don't tell me to go to Europe or something like that...

Canada is very cold in the winter.
I do not suggest coming here unless you are fine with the cold.

If you are 18...
Go to Quebec.
Drinking age is 18, and there are some great clubs in Montreal.

There's some pretty good skiing at mont tremblant and mont st.marie.
Of course you will get a taste of french, but montreal and resorts are very bilingual.
Besides that, you could visit the capital, lots of history and places to go there.

I've been to Canada to do Portaging(sp). Basically carrying canoes over land from lake to lake, and camping out. If your into the outdoors, that may be fun. I'm also sure theres alot of hiking if you're into it. I also had buddies that went to Windsor (I think) in Canada where you can drink and gamble at 18 if you're into that. I also think weed is legal in places like Vancouver(sp). Anyways, that should get you started out.

fixed the bolded text. And FWIW Jan and Feb are the coldest months of the year, so it gets bloody cold. Montreal regularly hovers around -15C without windchill and Quebec is nearly almost always colder. You can pretty much expect at least one day of -40 (Farenheit or Celsius) on at least one day. Make sure you bring a good winter coat.

As Stunt said, clubbing in Montreal is always good, the city has amazing night life, and the legal age is 18 so you can go boozing without remorse . If you only speak English, you'll have no problem in Montreal; Quebec city on the other hand is very francophone and you might have some trouble communicating if you're not around the "touristy" places.

You have to be 19 to drink in Windsor. I just spent 5 days in the area around Toronto with my g/f's family. I really can't give you much advice on what to do. All I ended up doing was consuming a lot of alcohol.

I'd say Montreal is your best bet because of your age. Ottawa would be really nice too, and you can always cross the Quebec border (Ottawa sits right on the Ontario/Quebec border) to get to the bars where 18 is legal.

18 is the age in Alberta too, but it's even colder there. Here in Vancouver it's nice and warm (~ +5-10 C or so... maybe down to -5 at night on a cold day). Haven't had much snow on the local mountains, but Whistler should be pretty good. Legal age is 19 here though.

B.C. has some of the best mountain biking in the world, and it shouldn't be too snowy near Vancouver.

Don't expect to Portage much this time of year. Maybe some snowshoeing between Ice Fishing holes though.

I wish I could move to BC, just for that reason alone. Plus the weather in Alberta is really getting on my nerves.
