Canada considering easing marijuana laws

All I have to say is finally! Since Britian has decrimilized, it looks like Canada is willing to do it as well. The one factor however is how US will respond if it is indeed decrimilzed. In my opinion, the US should get their noses out of Canada's business and laws. Canada is not the US and never will be, so the US should stop bullying Canada on what it can and cannot do. Couple US republicans said that if it is decrimizled in Canada, they are doing twice as many checks at the border and maybe even affecting trade between the two countries. US should get their head out of their ass and start realizing that marijuana is NOT the root of all evil like it is portrayed. Spain, Britian, Netherlands, Poland, and many other countries have it legal or decrimizled. Only a couple countries in Europe have it still illegal. My opinion is that Canada should stand up on what the medical data says, what most law offices say, most MP's and even a former prime minister and decrimilize it even if the US wants to be a pain in the ass about it.

There is nothing wrong with the US doing more checks at the border. That is up to them and it is not our business to mess around with the American law just because we eased it up.

As long as they don't nose around and dictate what we do, there is nothing wrong with it.
 
Speaking of weed is it just me or does moosehead beer STINK of marijuana? I swear it! I like that beer but every time I open up a bottle it's like somebody lit a joint under my nose. Does anybody else smell such a resemblance?

All im saying is this is our country not theirs (US) they should stay out of our buisness. We don't quabble over their (Legal Murders) Death Penalty. If it does happen (we should know in August sometime) we will gain a new age of independence from America which i believe Canada is in need. They'll put in customs regulation galore, but it'll also show that we can make our own decisions once in a while

Walk around Granville and Robson if you out of towners are ever here. Guaranteed to see a few people smoking it there. If a cop walks by, no one cares. If the cop is in a bad mood, he'll tell them to stop, take the joint, throw it away, and say don't do it again 🙂

Hehe, you're mixed up. It was income tax that was brought in to help pay for WWI and has just never been ended. The GST is a much newer tax ('86?), that was put into effect in order to pay down the debt, and to compensate for a tax cut to the manufacturing core. They figured that giving the manufacturers a tax break would increase production, and help the economy, but it really did the opposite.

Oh, and the GST is supposed to be PURELY for the debt. Obviously, it isn't 🙂

No dude .. Moosehead is one of my favourite beers and I've never noticed that .. although, often times if I'm holding a green bottle of moosehead in one hand .. I'm holding a doobie in the other.

i am planning a trip to vancouver. one of the main reasons is the different kinds of buds they have over there. the day when i can drink some beer and smoke a joint in a bar is my dream come true. one day it will happen...one day

How is doing border checks interfering with Canadian buisness? If we don't want weed going into the US, then we shall do border checks to make sure it doesn't happen. And weed gaining more acceptance in Canada means we must be more vigalant on the border. It is our buisness.

Now, I'm all for decriminalizing weed but you are not making any sense.

How is doing border checks interfering with Canadian buisness? If we don't want weed going into the US, then we shall do border checks to make sure it doesn't happen. It is a known fact that the US tries to impose its drug policy on
virtually every sovereign country in the world with a variety of heavy handed tactics.
It really has no business trying to influence other country's domestic policies.

The fact that britain is decriminalizing cannabis is a direct result of Sept 11
Because the US wants british support the british knew they had the perfect opportunity
to push this through without american flak. 😉

i never said it will interfere with canadian business but ill tell how it will affect it.
businesses make money from trade, when the border is SO lined up for hours because of customs checking every car, transport truck, bus, for weed, will slow down trade enormously and thus costing canadian businesses millions of dollars because they cant get their product to the retailer or whatever on time or takes longer. Retailers wanna get their products quickest time possible and thsi will not help I dont no if you go over the border alot but nothing is more frustrating than waiting 2-3 hours on a bridge just to get by. your right its US decision if they wanna do more checks, they can do whatever they want, but they should get with the times and stop this nonsense with treating
marijauna the same as cocaine or heroin. its pitiful.

US said they might even put sanctions on trades with Canada just because if weed becomes decrimizied. US will not get their own way this time, Canada will pull through, and gain more independence from US and i sure hell they do.
