Can your cpu play 8k videos without dropped frames?

Work PC (i5 4590) won't do it in Chrome or Edge. Chrome drops frames like mad in 8k, drops a fair few in 4k. Edge works like a boss in 4k, no video display in 8k. <shrug>

I get a playback error. Safari 10 no flash.

There's no hope for chrome's flash. I drop frames on 4k in Chrome but no drops in Safari.

On my G3900 @ stock, with a single 8GB DDR4-2400 @ 2133 DIMM (single-channel), on a 10/1 internet connection, I was skipping about 2frames/sec, @ 4K24. Not sure if that was because of the single-channel RAM, the slow CPU, or the slow internet connection. It was pretty "skippy" to watch.

Works fine in 8K with my 6700K and GTX 1080. I had like 7 dropped frames for the duration of the video but those only appeared when going to full screen and back again, not during playback.

5960x @ 4.5 and OC 980ti ran it with no dropped frames. I even played with it going to fullscreen and windowed, stopping, starting, and dragging the window around while it was playing.

I'm guessing Internet connection matters more? I ran it at 8Kp24 (36810 Kbps) and got 0/3173 dropped frames on a 4K Monitor using FireFox 50.1. Played while windowed, minimized, full screen, and dragged around between 2x 4K monitors.

Work system: 8C/16T Xeon E5-2690 (Sandy Bridge) at 2.90 GHz. GPU: AMD FirePro W4100 (about R7-250E equivalent).

1045T plays it fine offline. CPU usage is high @60% but only dropped 2 frames at the beginning which probably is not CPU related.
