I mean for the inflight entertainment. I'm flying to L.A. on Monday and I don't want to use their sh!tty headphones to watch the movie, etc.

I'd rather use my own but they don't use a standard 1/8" headphone jack. I don't mind paying the money it's just that the headphones Delta gives out really hurt my ears. Do I need an adapter, or is it not possible?

Yes you can use your own, as long as they fit the plug. I did it on United, and American airlines, I assume Delta would be the same.

Some airplanes have advanced all the way to the "hollow tube" system. Not sure what Delta uses.

You can use your own. I think if it's the plug that looks liks 2 1/8" jacks just plug your phones in. You'll only get sound from one side of the phones but they'll work.

if yours dont fit the standard 1/8 jack then you are going to have to get an adapter. But yes, you can use your own 'phones on the plane. Sometimes the flight attendants get mad at you for doing so. Oh well.

Speaking of flight attendants getting mad: I was on a flight maybe 4 years ago from Guangzhou to Beijing and I decided to break out my Gameboy. Boy did the flight attendant flip. It was hilarious. I've never been bothered by anyone on trans-atlantic or trans-pacific flights about a Gameboy or discman or anything.

Ok, I'm done now.
