Can you use Orange Clean to get thermal paste off of a CPU?

Well, I think I am going to try the orange clean and maybe dilute it with a little bit of water? What do you guys think about the water part?

If you try that, I'd let the CPU dry for quite a while before running any electricity through it.

Since I'm not sure about this method (I'd suggest seeing what other people have to say), though, here goes my disclaimer:

I claim no liability in the event you fry your processor, and I have put no recommendation of my own behind that method.

Go for it. You can really use anything on a CPU to clean it up, just make sure you let it dry really well before using it. Rinse it off (meaning use a wet paper towel) wih water before drying it.

Orange Clean should be fine, and I'll even go as far as to reccomend it. I used Goo Gone(a similar product) to clean off an old Athlon Tbird 900 and heatsink, and it cut through the paste like there was no tomorrow. I've never used something that cleaned up so well.

I may be thinking of the wrong product, but isn't orange clean a hand cleaner used in garages to clean mechanics hands. If that is the same product, I beleive it has some grit in it to assist with cleaning the grease on hands, and would not be suitable for use on your CPU or HSF.

i think hes thinking of the ornage all-puprose cleaner - not that gritty soap for your hands (i know what your talking about...lovethe smell of that stuff)

THE POWER OF ORANGE!

orange clean i believe does not leave a residue... the wood cleaning orange clean shitt does so make sure... best yet, clean a window with it and see if theres any residue left behind...
