can you use expired contact solution?

So i just started wearing contacts again today after about a year and a half of not wearing them. I went to grab my solution but i noticed there was an expiration date of 09/07. My question is is it really bad to use expired solution or does it just weaken with age?

everything I just read said to throw it out. Once it is opened, it becomes more and more contaiminated. I personally would not risk an eye infection. Just run to the store and buy another bottle.

The solution is most likely largely saline water, which things happily grow in. Chuck it.
