Can you use a Floopy with IDE drivers to boot from a linux cd?

you can definately boot from a floppy with atapi drivers and run something from a cd. if the cd is bootable in the first place just boot straight from it.

The computers bios is messed up and doesn't like boot from the cd so I asked the question. What DOS command would change me to the cd DIR?

Depends on what drive letter your CD is. If it's D, just type: D:

To change directories, type: cd\<directory>

you have to have the atapi driver and mscdex running. when you boot off the floppy mscdex will assign it a drive letter. if you need more help check out bootdisk.com, lots of info there.

I can read the cd but what would cause the cd to boot. I've tried most of the files recieveing a bad filename when i can clearly see it is there. Any Ideas?

As I explained I want to boot from a floopy then from dos boot from a cd. My older comp doesn't like booting from cd's for some reason.

right. but what cd? what are you trying to load? for example, if you're trying to load windows 98 you'd want to switch to the cd drive, type 'cd win98' and then setup.

Knoppix or Mandrake Move (Was in Above post)
I can read the cd fine but I need to know how to make dos boot from the cd persay.

well, what you might have to do is check the knoppix or mandrake site and make a specific boot floppy for whichever you want to run. i'm not entirely sure you can run a linux cd from a dos boot disk, altho i haven't tried so you might want to update your title so linux ppl will see it and maybe respond. might want to try the OS forum as well.
