Do people really not know? I suppose if you didn't care...but if you were even slightly a car guy, you should at least know your domestics.

What would be more fun would be to write down the country of origin of each company. Or where the mother-company's headquarters are...

And Jaguar and Volvo are owned by Ford. So?

missed those. well he said to put an X next to the imports. they may be manufactured in another country, but since GM owns them they're not imports.

Chrysler X(has some mitsu parts in some cars)(owned by foreign company)
Dodge (Some parts are made over seas)(owned by foreign company)
Ferrari (foreign Owned by a french company Puegot i believe)
Ford (American owned, in bed with Japanese Mazda)
GMC (American owned, some vehicles made in mexico and canada as well as america)
Honda (japanese owned, has some plants in the US)
HUMMER (Owned by GM now, made off of the Tahoe, made in the USA)
Hyundai (Korean)
Infiniti (Owned by Nissan/Renault)
Isuzu (Japanese company that will go in the crapper within 10 years at their current rate)
Jaguar (owned by Ford)
Jeep (Dymler-Chysler)
Kia (Korean, has dealing with Ford on some 80's and 90's car, namely the Festiva and Aspire)
Lamborghini (Italian owned by VW)
Land Rover (Ford owned)
Lexus (Toyota, made in japan)
Lincoln (Ford)
Lotus (British, don't remeber who owns them)
Maserati (Italian, part of Ferrari)
Maybach (????)
Mazda (Japanses,Partly owned by Ford)
Mercedes Benz (Owned by Dymler Crysler)
Mercury (Ford)
Mitsubishi (Mitsubishi is a japanse company that is HUGE, just not in cars. Has some tie in's with Chrysler)
Nissan (Japanese Owned partly by Renault)
Oldsmobile (GM)
Pontiac (GM, cross platforms with Toyota)
Porsche (German Purity)
Saab (Ford owns them now it think)
Saturn (GM)
Subaru (Subaru is one of the only car companies that's not in bed with any others. Japanese owned)
Suzuki (Japanses owned)
Toyota (Japanese owned)
Toyota Truck (Made in america)
Volkswagen (German)
Volvo(Swiss)

Most all the car makers are in cohoots with eachother, and share technologie or parts to cut down on costs.
There are no true Domestic or Foreign car companies as the have cross ownership and mergers and deals that tie them together, and a lot of companies build cars in several different countries.

I still can't fathom Renault owning a majority share of Nissan... sigh, but then Nissan was bankrupt.
Doesn't Ford own a part of Volvo also?

Ford has dealt with almost every car company out there, the Nissan Quest and Ford Windstar were the same thing.

This is kind of a BS question since it doesn't define terms.
There are cars built by US firms in the US. Those are clearly domestics but they may have large imported content (parts).
There are "US" cars built in NAFTA countries (Canada and Mexico). They are also considered domestics.
There are cars built by foreign companies in the US. They may be domestics if they have enough US content.
There are cars built overseas by companies partially owned by US companies. These firms may be 10% or 100% US owned. Those cars are imports.
Then there are the true imports built overseas by foreign companies.

However, this leaves a few strange cases like Chrysler (excuse me, Daimler Chrysler). Is a Dodge a domestic? Is a Mercedes an import?

ok, ok, ok. Can we all agree at least that any car that has a 4 foot wing out it, a exaust tip you can fit your head in and those ghey ass windshield washer nozzels is RICE????
