Can -you- tell the difference between "good" vodka and "suck" vodka?

My girlfriend thinks that the price of vodka is not any indication of quality and that for regular people there is no way to tell the difference between "good" vodka and "ghetto" vodka.

I argue that some products may have prices that are inflated more than their quality justifies but think that Joe Ordinary should be able to tell the difference.

What do YOU think?

I think I'd check the label. If it says "suck vodka" on it, I would assume that's what was inside. And vice versa.

I think the average person probably could tell the difference between house vodka and Ketel One. However, they prob. couldn't between Ketel One and Belvedere.

Very much so. Course, I've been am avid vodka drinker since my Freshmen year in High School some 10 years ago.
If you REALLY want to show her a diference ANYONE can notice, go buy some cheap azz vodka, then buy some good potato vodka. Hell, even high end vodka vs potato vodka is a noticable difference. I believe Chopin is a potato vodka, if you read the labels 98% of vodka is a gran spirits, look for one distilled from (obviously) potatos.

i can. my friends used to not believe me that there was a difference, but i am actually a big fan of finlandia vodka. tasty. you can easily tell the difference between that and other higher quality vodka versus some dark eyes or something else out of a plastic bottle. the same holds true for gin. you can taste the difference.

Thats the other thing. Good vodka is strong but smooth, cheap vodka is just a nasty burning liquid.
KetelOne is good too, but I myself prefer either Chopin or Stoly. To each his own.

I prefer Grey Goose.

But alas, I'm in college and I can usually only afford whatever costs 10$ for two liters.

*sigh*

Yep.

I prefer Tangeray (sp?). I think it is the smoothest Vodka I have ever drank.

Yeah, Tanqueray is gin, but I believe they also make vodka... It's just not as well known.

Iceberg Vodka is very good too. Very very good.
