It completely depends on the situation. If its a back-from-the-dead type of zombie then its pretty clear cut its a zombie and not your loved one, kill them.
If its a madness/disease type infection, then there's potentially hope for a cure, then maybe you could risk trying to lock them up.
The only truly hard part regardless of the situation would be a loved one getting infected and then having to make a decision on what to do before they turned.

I have a pump 12 gauge 18.5" shotgun with >200 Shells, 20 Gauge Over/Under with >200 shells, and my 9mm xD-9 with >200 rounds. That being said, I could easily kill 200 zombies on my way to the closest sporting goods store to pick up some more supplies.
