Was doing some fascinating reading on US nuclear tests here:

http://nuclearweaponarchive.org/

Operation Castle... wow...

http://nuclearweaponarchive.org/Usa/Tests/Castle.html

lol

Romeo was the first nuclear test conducted on a barge. Since high yield thermonuclear tests were blowing vast holes in the reefs at Bikini and Enewetak this was imperative - otherwise the U.S. test program would soon run out of islands.

The beauty of nuclear weapons is unmatched by anything on this planet. I love how they destroy life and scar the earth for years after they have detonated. These are weapons from a time when this nation was strong. It is sad to see the pathetic state we are in now.

So you would have us poison the planet again and test a few more of these? 🙁

Um yeah not exactly what I was thinking. But I'll agree on the horrific beauty of these weapons. But my fascination is similar to ones fascination in the efficiency and terrible success of the Nazi death camps.

Test? Of course not, don't be so foolish. These weapons are meant to be used. That is their purpose. We have enemies that must be made to understand what power really is. These weapons will demonstrate that power to them, in the moments before their death. It truly is wonderful, when you think about it.

We're even stronger now than we were when these tests were held. In fact, I'd find it hard to argue that we're not the strongest we've ever been from an ability to make war standpoint.

We have the ability, but we don't have leaders with courage.

I doubt those are blast marks.

There are a lot of other atolls in the area that have similar marks.

Other than radiation I doubt there is much that remains from our blasts in the area.

Wiki says you can see the crater, but I couldn't find any evidence of it.

I like your way of thinking.

Conveniently most of the problem areas in this world are all bunched up together making these weapons perfect for ending this endless war against the taliban.

I thought those were extinct volcanos.

The entire atoll is likely the eroded remnant of an extinct volcano. The bite sized holes in the reefs are the craters from the nukes, see pics I posted above.
