Can you speak a foreign language?

Nope. Reading, I can pick my way through a bit of Latin languages and German, but not really. It's just enough to be able to keep from killing myself by eating the wrong thing, or something like that.

I grew up in a predominately Italian neighborhood in western Mass. I'm fluent in Eye-talian..."Whassamadda fo you, paisan?"

😛

Took French for six years in school, tested out of three semesters at the college level without more than a refresher the night before the proficiency over a year later. Barely used it in between. My vocabulary isn't as good as it was, though.

This one and 3 others... I can get by with 2 of them, the 3rd I'm learning, but it's a "dialect" of one of the others.

Want to pick up Spanish. Just waiting for a sale on the software...

I lived in Munich for about 8 months and studied my way up through B1 level German, but I would never be so bold as to claim I can speak it.

Though I'm told I pronounce it unusually well for a second language speaker, which is very encouraging. Becoming more fluent is definitely on my bucket list.

Korean, English... 4yrs of French from HS (whatever that's worth)..
oh and pig latin oway kay?

I studied german in HS, never took it in college though I wanted to. Can still speak a smattering of it, but not all that much. Apparently my accent is hilarious.

Grew up speaking English and Greek at home. Went to a magnet school that immersed me completely in French and Spanish, so I'm fluent in those. I'm conversational in German.

Polish, Russian, German, Hebrew and I speak Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Berber, and Kurdish...but my job has demanded that I know these languages fluently!

oopsa -- I forgot English....Polish and Hebrew are my first languages...

I did 4 years of French when I was in high school. I was pretty fluent, went to France and got around easily. Haven't used it since then so I forgot almost all of it. I went back to France recently and was able to speak brokenly after a few days.

I'm fluent in English and conversational in German, my Spanish is rusty as fuck and my Icelandic was never that great to begin with. I can also communicate with Swedes and Norwegians by virtue of being Danish.

Fluent in Dutch and English, German is a bit rusty. I know enough French to know what people are talking about.
