Big time.

For storage/data and my digital camera does HD video also that uses the blu-ray codec so I'd not have to convert it at all, I'd just burn to disc and watch using my blu-ray player (ps3).

?55 RECORDER?? I highly doubt that. I have no plans to buy a recorder, I could buy 1 or 2TB of hard drives for the same price, not to mention media costs. I do plan to buy an 8x player for my rig sometime soon, (maybe the day netflix stops charging ridiculous extra fees for BD!).

They day they are able to make a PS3 play backups is the day I'll buy a bluray recorder at any cost.

It would sit well with my modded 360 and softmodded Wii. :)

This. And to copy (oops, I mean archive) movies that I rent from Blockbuster (oops, I mean legally purchase).

Of course, this is all when blank br media comes down to DVD prices.

I would never trust a disc for long term storage. I have way too many cd-rs that are unreadable or degraded and they're not that old. Already starting to find degraded DVDs in my piles of junk. I could find more, but I have like 6tb of storage so I don't recall the last time I had to root around for DVDs.

I'm becoming a bit of a minimalist. I'm happy to not have to manage crates of discs and paper sleeves. I'd much rather have things digitized and confined to a tiny box. The only things I like to see racked up on shelves are books.
