Can you return a new car?

And this folks is why you thoroughly research a car before you purchase it. Both of the cars that I have purchased I did a few weeks worth of research on and then did some test drives. I tested out other cars that I hadn't done as much research on for comparison's sake and to see if there was something else out there that I might prefer. I've been quite happy with both of my car purchases (although I can't seem to apply touch up paint properly to the newest one, ARRGGGG) and had no regrets after driving them off the lot. I suppose the OP's best option is to call the dealership and ask them and let them know why he would want to return the car. There's a chance that they will say no but it's worth a shot.

I'm curious though, why do you want the car you traded in (whatever it is) over the Acura TL? All of the reviews I've read say it's a pretty nice car and Acuras do hold their value well. Seems like a good investment to me.

ok, houes usually go on escrow so as to allow, usually, a 30 day period where both parties can back out.

his friend that has the f-150 probably had a 'try it for 3 days' deal. dealships do that, they let you try it for a day before you buy it, they even have commercials about it. however if it was never stipulated before hand that you wanted to try the car for a day then... no, you cant just return the car like nothing happened.

these are CAR SALES MAN, they sell you cars. if you were sold a car then it is yours. of course if you dont want it they'll buy it off you for bluebook value.

Well I'm going to talk to them on Monday and see how it goes. Even if I keep the car it's a great ride....

9.99 times out of 10 they will not unwind the deal. There are some dealerships like carmax that do give you a grace period but not many for new cars.

Exactly (except for the buying back part). Dealers that give a 3 day test drive or a three day return policy are simply spotting you in the car or delaying the paperwork.

Because he traded in a 1999 BMW M5.

Actually I did a lot of research on the car, looked into buying a BMW 325i, Mercedes C320 Sedan, Lexus IS300, and Infinity G35. I liked the overall package of the Acura TL, so i bought it.....now I'm having second thoughts...Why? I have no clue...I'm only 25 and I've bought over 6 cars and a house and never felt a sense of regret. Not sure why I am now....🙁

I see the turn this thread is taking...

How pathetic for a 25 year old to put himself in this position.

Anyway, if they don't legally have to they almost certainly will if you sweeten the pot enough with taking a hit on enough money. It's not likely they'll take it back free and clear if they don't have a policy to.

it's a nice car. just keep it and shut up. no offense but i'd be so happy if i even have a hyundai accent... i still have a $15k debt to pay off... =/

and the 04' TL is when it had its major update. sure it's the first year since the update but then again it looks so refined and the interior is nice and it has 270 horses.

sedan-wise, i think it's better than the IS300, G35 (only coupe looks nice), and definitely better than a merc c class. BMW's costs a lot to fix. the TL is the one that has the second to most power of the bunch.

unlike the rest of the asshats in this thread I will not flame you. (thats a first)

Is the dealer you bought it from a pretty big dealer? Chances are that they will want to keep their good name if they are. Call up and talk to the manager/owner of the dealership. Dont waste your time talking to the salesman. Tell them the truth and offer to pay something for the deal. Of course they dont have to take it back, but some places do still put the customer first.

What you seem to be forgetting is the dealer does not own the car anymore. That packet leaves the dealer usually the day of the deal. They do want their money you know. Also this has nothing to do with putting the cusomer first. 75% of people get "buyer's remorse".

People have the right to change their minds....

Oh? So, once you sign a legal contract, say...you can go "y'know, I really don't want to do this after all, if you don't mind I'll just back out..."?

No, when people make up their minds to do something, they should do it. You shouldn't change your mind once other people are involved. Obviously this applies less in some cases than others, but I think that you should never buy something you don't intend to keep.

You can do it with real estate deals...people DO change their minds and they have every right to...maybe he did intend to keep it but a day later he lost his job and now cannot afford it...seems logical that he be allowed to return it...
