he said he heard it on some gaming podcast or something. i have not heard anything about this and am very skeptical. would be awesome. does anyone know about this?

Well this isn't a Games for Windows game so no, can't do it. Only Games for Windows games played on Vista MAY have the ability to do it.

i feel like im getting conflicting answers here. saga, have you ever actually done it? i mean me on my legit steam account here and my friend on his legit xbox live account at his house.

No you're not getting conflicting answers. Only one person said you can and 4 other said you can't. You cannot play cross platform in L4D. Only certain games allow Xbox/PC play and they are Games for Windows games and only with Vista and only certain games allow this. L4D is not a Games for Windows game.

I've read that people have thought they could do this but I'm not aware of it being possible.
As Zerocool stated it would have to be on the GFW platform and as you know this is kinda a STEAM game.

I would love to totally pwn some xbox pubbers!
😀

It drives me insane hearing my Xbox-owner friends tell me that they could be competitive with their gamepads vs. mouse/keyboard players.

No. You can't. You'd get your head fucking ripped off from across the map. Deal with it.

This! 😀

I wish there would be just 1 game, preferably a first person shooter, where console and PC could play together. That would be so much fun!

I don't want to upgrade to Vista...

I'd love a cross-platform mainstream FPS release, just like L4D. Do you know how many Vietnamese pho dinners and beers I'd win from my console friends in bets? muahahahaha

Shadowrun and Halo 2 can

not Halo 2

And shadowrun is a subscription game. You need to pay the $5/month to play it on PC.

i remember reading something about console developers who do port titles and the balancing that had to be done for shadowrun. something like, if you dont give the console players auto aim/slowdown then pc players will dominate. if you do give consolers their traditional full auto aim and dont give pc'ers any aim assist then the consolers would dominate.

at some point you would hope one developer would end the debate/delusion and enable full kb+m vs no autoaim controlpad. auto lockon and aim is for arcade gameplay, not online.

One of the quakes could be cross platformed on the dreamcast I believe. The raping was overwhelming I am told.

And why would you, since they basically ask PC players to cut off one of their hands so the xbox guys don't get killed to bad. 😛

I always thought this was some stupid rumor, but I guess not

Gamespot
Additionally, the Dreamcast Map Pack will allow PC players to play in the new maps against Dreamcast players. The only criteria are that PC players must have a 1.16n or lower version of Quake III: Arena available and use the GameSpy 3D or PingTool utilities to browse the Sega Dreamcast servers.

That must have sucked for Dreamcast players. Even on a PC I get butt raped in deathmatch. Quake and Unreal just seem to attract the most hard core PC gamers.

Well actually Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War II is both a Steam and Games for Windows game. The Games for Windows part is the important one, not the Steam part.

Didn't that DOWII is both, interesting. You played any xbox pubbers on that? Back to the above you are correct the GFW is the most important element, LFD unfortunately does not have GFW compatibility that I am aware of. 🙁
