Can you pair a E4300 with a Gigabyte DS3?

I am building a core 2 duo system, looking for the best cheap parts possible with a bit of overclocking ability. I am looking at the quad core compatible boards as well. So I am really set on getting a 4300 which as you know has a 800mhz fsb default. While the DS3 has a low end of 1066... Would it be possible to drop this cpu in there are have it run right out of the box? Would it sort of auto overclock it? Or just auto fry it? or do nothing?
What other boards are there out there for under 100 that would be a good overclocker for this chip and have quad core capability?

If you answer you rock, thanks

Works fine in my wife's system......exactly the same parts she has. A DS3 ver. 3.3 motherboard and and E4300 cpu OC'd to 2.8GHz.

Works like a charm!!!

The motherboard will automatically set the FSB down to that of the processor. No auto overclock. If you have faster RAM it should run them asynchronously to the RAMs full speed with a divider, up to whatever the board is set up for. That's about as close as it gets to auto overclocking. Many motherboards come with software that lets you auto overlclock, but it's not nearly as good as doing it yourself.

I realize that i probably look stupid right now, and i agree, but the one on newegg at the moment that is 109.99 is a different revision and it says only 1066/1333 so i was under the impression that was as low as it could go, its the revision 1.3...

Actually now that i am looking at more I am noticing quite a few on newegg that say 1066/1333...

But if i have a new C2D 4300 out of the box and the new 1.3 DS3 out of the box, If they don't work right there, then i wont be able to flash the bios... ??

Exactly how limiting is the bus on the new Intels? Those in the know say it's crap compared to hyper-transport, but does that actually matter?

HUH?

and yes yh125d, i have been considering getting an open box p5b off of newegg, any of you guys had any luck with an open box from them? It says it comes with nothing, do they really come with absolutely nothing?
