can you OC a 3500+ with 2GB RAM?

want to build for use with Photoshop, premiere pro and After effects. Never overclocked before and want to make sure i dont regret a purchase.
I see lots of guides for 2x512 of specialist RAM but how about 2x1GB modules? On what MOBO? (currently looking at the MSI K8N NEo 4 ULTRA)

Yes, you'll probably can get some overclock from an Athlon64 CPUs, but whether your RAMs may or may not reach the same frequency as the FSB.

For example, it so happens that my 3500+ can be overclocked to 2585MHz (235MHz FSB), but my value RAMs will only reach 220MHz

Yes, you don't need to overclock the ram, dividers are perfectly acceptable for the A64 platform, you don't need 1:1 for the best performance, as CPU speed is the #1 priority.

2Gb DDR PC3200 GeIL Value CAS3 Dual Channel kit

! I would avoid CAS3 RAM. It is usually very low quality. Look for Cas2.5 or better.

The mobo's OK, and the RAMs are OK as well,

just remember to set the 1T/2T mem timing to 1T since it'll hold the biggest sway in your memory performance,

but unless you're looking to try your luck with extreme OC, then the 3500+ is preferable, IMO.

Thanks! will go 3500+

as for the RAM can't find that OCZ here (Ireland) but found :

Corsair XMS - DDR TwinX
2GB (2x1GB), DDR400, 2x128Mx64, non-ECC, 2x184 DIMM, unbuffered, 2-3-3-6, Silver H/S, L/T Warranty

in the UK, am I on the right track?
