snakes dont spit out anything. their digestive system can break down everything.

Huh, I thought they spit out bones. I guess you learn something new every day.

Rat poison usually reacts to the stomach acid in their system. They eat it, then it gets wet.....once that happens it basically causes internal bleeding and ruptures within thier blood vessels. This makes for a clean kill because the poison has chemicals that keep the rat's blood from clotting properly.

There is an antidote for rat poison and that's vitamin K....you'd normally receive a shot from a doctor, but then get a prescription for daily doses until the body heals.

As for the snake, it really depends on how it digests the rat and how much of the poison the rat digested. I would expect that the snake would either get sick or die, but there are no guarantees. Snakes are extremely interesting animals. I've skinned a rattlesnake while it was still moving......one of the freakiest things I've ever done. I had chopped its head off and it just kept moving around....after skinning it, I could look in its rib-cage, which extended the lenght of its body and could see its heart still beating and all of its organs. Snakes freak me out... 😛

how could you feed a snake a rat every day? aren't you like supposed to feed them a rat every few months or something?

DONT DO IT!

Feeding the snake poison will only make it stronger! It will morp into a maneater! Perhaps 30-40ft long, and as big around as Rosie O'donald.

What did the snake do to you? Feed the poison to the owner.

If it's a black and white snake, it might be a Kingsnake. Kingsnakes are unique as they are the only snakes immune to Rattlesnake venom, which makes them excellent rattlesnake predators. However, that doesn't mean it would be immune to rat poison. You probably would kill the snake.

HOWEVER, if it's vomiting ANYTHING, it's not well. The snake will digest everything.

If you're finding bones, maybe there's an owl down there? Snakes are generally odorless. You are probably having more of a problem with the rats.

Please don't torture the poor snake. Find some other way of dealing with this.

Give us updates on the situation, and we'll be happy to find alternatives.

no, since snakes have venom, they are immune to all poisons. If they weren't, they'd die from their own poison as soon as they were born.

Please tell me my meter is fubar'd again...
