When I install Win98 I just make a copy of the CD to my hard drive this has the two benefits of being a faster install and never getting that annoying "insert windows CD" message...

Can I do the same thing in Win2k? Then run setup from E:/Win2kCD rather than J: ?

(I have a lot of partitions ok..E is one of many HDD parts, J is my first CD drive)

All you have to copy over is the winnt folder. Then you run setup from windows or dos. If you run it from dos you need to start smartdrv.exe first. winnt.exe starts setup within dos.

Only the "i386" folder is needed. And, it's possible to slipstream Service Pack 1 into the i386 folder as well, so that SP1 is already there, from first boot-up.
