Can you imagine if a president was put on trial for raping a family friend with AIDS?

And saying he took a shower right after the rape to get rid of the AIDs? Not Obama but South Africa's President Zuma. With that level of ignorance reaching the executive office, it is no wonder HIV/AIDS infection rate of the general population is at 20%. Boss asked me over the weekend to go there to meet a client and my response was "Hellz no."

really? you wouldn't visit the entirety of South Africa because of AIDS?

you realize you can enjoy the exotic scenery and foreign location without having sex with anything, right?

There is more to Africas HIV rate then just ignorance.

But to get the full effect of the culture, you really need to rent a $5 hooker.

I would go to south Africa just to visit the cradle of humankind. What kind of feeling one must get from walking the same land our ancestors walked millions of years ago.

I can think of at least 4 people who would immediately defend him here.

Yes. The disease is too rampant and so is the gun violence there. People say it's difficult to get AIDS from someone who has it but, with 1 in every 5 person having it, who would want to chance it? I wouldn't. What if I get shot and need blood at a local hospital? Not worth it..

I think you're thinking of Kenya.

Why did you bring up obama?

So that people can understand the importance of the individual and the office he holds. If I said the president of South Africa people may simply dismiss it as something that happens often over there. But if they understood the importance of the office and its implications then they would see how a leader's actions can affect a whole nation. Before Zuma there was Mbeki who did not believe in AIDS at all. He had an American adviser who denied that AIDS comes from HIV.

Not going to visit South Africa because of HIV/AIDS is about the stupidest reason I've ever heard.

Even if you were shot and needed a blood transfusion, South Africa is not a country without the means or concern to screen blood for things like HIV.

Maybe for you since you may be around the disease but not I. Any place with a 20% infection rate is no-go for me.

Wow, you're an asshole.

You don't get AIDS from touching people, jerk. Unless you're planning to go over to Africa and have sex with everyone and everything you see, you will not have a problem. I'm pretty sure the tourism bureaus in African countries do everything they can to make sure your pretty little American self doesn't have to be face-to-face with AIDS.

Their problem isnt sex.
Its a shit medical industry. They arent good about testing and separating blood.

Good, then you go and enjoy the AIDS.

I expected as much naivety and stupidity from you.

Glad to have met your expectations.

I'm pretty sure that a very low percentage of people have ever had blood transfusions there. Way less than 20% of the population (minimum). So, yes, the problem IS sex.

Its more than just transfusions. Its overall poor handling practices and such.

Your "bubble boy" mentality isn't something to be proud of. I'm certainly mocking you for it... and I'm sure others are too. You may not care, but don't for a second think you're being smart.. because you're not. Irrational fear like yours is common in the weak and the stupid.
