A colleague has in his possesion an ethernet card and wants to know if it is 10/100. The only info I have is that he is using Realtek 8029(AS) drivers and that the card itself is marked Rev. 1.3.

Anyone out there care to hazzard an educated guess as to whether this is a 10/100 NIC?

Cheers,

There are a LOT of Realtek 8029-based cards. This chip is used on many low-end cards. It's 10mb only (not 10/100). A similarly named Realtek chip, the 8139, is 10/100. For more info on Realtek networking products, check out this site: http://www.realtek.com.tw/cn/cn.html

can you get the fcc number or the mac address? Either one will lead you to the maker of the card.

Really, the manufacturer of the card is not all that important, since all 8029-based cards have the same specifications and use the same drivers.
