Can you hide a partition from non-administrator user accounts in XP Home?

I want to put all my data files on a new partition, but I don't want them available to other users of my computer who have their own logins. Can I hide the partition or folders somehow? "My Documents" on the C drive is already hidden, but I can't figure how to do it for other drives. Is this only possible in XP Pro? Thanks very much.

I don't know about XP Home, but I would assume that it is possible just like the others. Just go into folder options, and hide the folder...should be that simple.

Thanks for the advice waldo. I went to Properties for the folder and made it a hidden folder. I can see it under my admin login, which has the option "show hidden files" selected in Folder Options, and it cannot be seen in the other user accounts. This is good.

However, a user using another user account login can easily go to Folder Options and change the setting to "show hidden files", making the folder visible. This is true even though the other logins don't have admin privileges. I have tech saavy nephews, this will not work for me.

You'd think it would be a simple matter to hide any file or folder from other user accounts, but I haven't figured it out yet.

I just tell windows 2000 to not assign a drive letter to a partition when I make it. Its technically not hidden, but it ain't there either.

Thanks PingSpike. Wouldn't that make the files on the partition invisible to me to? I'd like to do it so I can see them and other user accounts can't.

right click on the drive in folder view. select properties and then sharing tab. Click make drive private box.

Thanks jterrell, I feel I'm getting closer but I'm not there yet!

There is a box "make folder private", however it is grayed out and cannot be checked. This is in the Windows Explorer, folder view, right clicked properties on the drive letter, clicked the sharing tab. It's also grayed out for any folder on any drive that I select :-/

Is it possible that this option is only available in XP Pro and not in XP Home?
