you can play around with the setings in winamps visuals and get it to extend to your desktop, but it would all be random. I ran that on my P3 lappy with 256 megs of ram and it diddnt soak it all that much, good luck

the only way I know off is through running windowblinds and loading the stock fish widget and it's interactive too.

I have an app for OSX that lets you run your active screensaver as a desktop. I would love to find something like that for my PC also.

This isn't too hard with the Windows API. If anyone's up to it, the functions are something like SetParent, GetDesktopWindow, and FindWindow (to find the screensaver window). All you really have to do is set the screensaver display's parent to the desktop and it should work.

I know there are tools that can create rippling effects. Most of them seem like ugly hacks to me though.

There was also a pay product that plays movies on your desktop (like a field with wind flowing through it) but now I can't find the site anymore.

The Core Media Player will let you play a movie on your desktop and it's free.

The one I was talking about was the wallpaper essentially (the desktop). Besides the fact that it cost money, it still played a long loop. Something about that bothers me. I'd want either random behavior, AI behavior or a live feed.

Is this what you were talking about?
