Can you have 2 different Proccessors on the same dual mobo?

I want to upgrade my computer, but was wondering if I can just get a dual motherboard and continute to use my PII 300 with an another cpu like a duron or a celeron. Will it slow down the computer in anyway like a bottleneck? It shouldn't right? since it'll be running whatever instructions it can in paralell, it shouldn't slow down the computer?

What mobo is good for a job like this?

u can not do that, must have a sama processor, and your ram must the ECC and registered one, i ever built an dual processor on asus CUR-DLS, and put the hyundai ECC not registered one, and the system was can not post anything!

You MUST have 2 identical processors at the same speed. It is recommended that they are both the same stepping (core revision) as well.

The exception to what everyone is say is found in the Abit BP6. Abit did a neat little feat of engineering and made it possible to run two different speed processors at the same time. Since both share the same FSB speed, this wouldn't work too well for overclocking in most cases, but it works great otherwise. The problem I mention with overclocking is this... say you have a C366 @ 555 and now you want to add a C533. Since the 366 requires a 100 MHz FSB, you would have to run the 533 at 100 FSB too... only that would give you a celeron running at 800 MHz and that version of the celeron was incapable of that sort of speed.

Sadly, as everyone else has already said, I don't think that there is any Slot 1 board that is capable of doing the same thing
