Can you get an Evo or STi without the wing?

No, but I believe that you can exchange trunk lids with a normal WRX in the case of the STi... the WRX's spoiler is less gaudy.

Yes. The Evo RS comes stock without wing, radio, and some other stuff so that it'll be lighter for racing.
STi... nope.

Hmm, I wonder if the regular Evo can come with the decklid from the RS. I don't want a complete stripped down model.

I want an AWD car to replace my Miata, so I'll be able to drive year round. The Evo and STi are top contenders but I don't want the teenage ricer-ish looks.

There are lots of non STi WRX owners who would love to have your STi rear deck.

That's the first thing I'd do if I bought an STi.

Look at the post above yours. I don't want a car that attracts attention from the police or the typical Honda-import rice crowd.

Better visibility, less attention from cops, sleeper++, etc.

I don't consider it rice if it comes stock. I actually like the way the wing looks.

I like how it'd look with a flat deck. Nothing back there.

But my chances of getting a new car are probably pretty low. I'd like a house first. :)

You can swap trunklids, but even then, with the fender flares, body cladding and hood scoops, its always going to have a ricer look to it. And neither the evo or sti are that great on snow with stock tires. You'll have to swap for the winter.

You might stick to a Legacy GT or a perhaps G35 awd for a more practical choice.

Two sets of wheels and tires are the norm. I'd get a cheap set with snow tires for the winter. I like the Legacy, but want more of a no-frills enthusaist-oriented car.

OH yeah, the EVO RS does not have air conditioning as well. So in the summer you're screwed. It doesn't really attract THAT much attention. Time to get that Mazdaspeed 6 then... AWD, Turbo, 276HP... although I suspect that that sucker will weigh quite a bit. MSRP is suppose to be 28k-30k for that Mazdaspeed 6
