A rectangular room measures 30 feet in length and 12 feet in height, and the ends are 12 feet in width. A spider rests at a point one foot up from the floor at the middle of one end. The center of the spider's web is located one foot down from the ceiling at the middle of the other end of the room. What is the shortest distance the spider can walk to get to her web?

what is the shortest distance the spider can walk to get to her web?

The answer is:
IT'LL NEVER MAKE IT!

I'm going to come by with a broom and a foot and kill it and demolish it's home.

Look - the answer was clearly stated: 42!!!!!

There is no error - Doug knows - it IS correct!

If the answer of 42 does not make sense to you - then perhaps you did not understand the question.

:) (apologies to D. Adams [R.I.P.])

IT IS A JOKE! Read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and you will understand.

Oh, and this isn't a brainteaser. This is your geometry homework. Trying to trick people into doing your homework isn't nice. Now, go do your own work before we call your teachers.

I'll give you a hint:
He has to travel 1/2 of each end and the length, as well as the difference in altitude.
