Didn't we already do this thread?!? :p

Umm...back in '93 I was first introduced to the internet. Most of my close friends were a couple a years older than me. Since they had already gone off to different colleges, the only cheap way I could talk to my friends in real time that I knew of was to frequent a MUD (Mult-User Dungeon) that most of them played. We all used to just meet and chat for a while.

At the time, my user name I chose was Thing after one of my favorite comic book characters (Thing from the Fantastic Four). I started playing the MUD with them and after a number of months, I became a "God" in the game. When they elevated me to that level, I just slapped the Lord part in front to make it seem more powerfull. :D

Decided to use it for just about everything because it is fairly unique.

Nickname I used to sign when e-mailing to my friends. I used it only to be facetious but I've gotten responses from certain people in other forums that it was offensive to them.

BTW in case someone's not familiar: link

Hmmm, well, I'm not Big, nor am I Dan. It's just a misogynistic male gorilla-like alter-ego I used for awhile. Complete fantasy. I haven't kept up the persona, but didn't bother to change the name.

Oh, got the name from the movie "O brother, Where art thou?". It's now just a dirty personal joke that I won't explain, between me and my dearly beloved.

NOt very good at coming up with clever names, and I get tired of using my real name, so I picked the engine in the Challenger in my sig. Figured the odds of that being in use on a computer board like this were fairly slim. ;)

I picked my name at random, something computer realted I thought... Of course, it lacks taste. But whatever. A name is a name.

Well, I picked ROTC1983 because I am going through ROTC right now and I was born in 1983. I also got the nickname ROTZ when we play airsoft or play online now :)

I wanted Brutuskendall (Brutus= My dogs name, Kendall my last name)

I couldn't get it all in, so Brutuskend was born.

Wow, that's almost like my story:

Back in 5th grade, my Dad put a bunch of parental restrictions on my screen name so I thought that I would be sly and create a new screen name: NewScreenName so he would think that it would be an option for a new screen name and not a real screen name so he wouldn't put parental restrictions on it.

Well.. AOL had the limiting characters to 9 characters, so instead of NewScreenName it turned into NewSc and some odd random number like 2985 (NewSc2985). Didn't look right, so I deleted the last numbers and got NewSc2.

Why would your Dad put any restrictions on your username? I thought he'd disallow access to certain sites instead ;)

It was AOL - they had a "Child" rating, a "Teen" rating, a "Mature Teen" rating, and an "Adult" rating. I got "Child" (since I wasn't a teen yet.. at least i don't think i was) and so I couldn't even IM people... pissed me off.

Mine's pretty easy. 4L stands for 4 leaf, then clover, then I am a girl. I have a very weird habit of finding alot of 4 leaf clovers. However this is my first time using the name, but I think I like it.

I've seen enough of dead, swelling like a ball, dead dogs ready to explode in the hot summer sun. You won't believe me, when I was a little boy I heard one such dog explode... It sounded like a bomb, I swear. And the smell was like - you couldn't approach it closer than 50 metres w/o starting to feel uncomfortable.

Do we want to know what kind of wizardry goes on in that 'little room upstairs'? :Q :p

Extrarius is latin:
extrarius -a -um [outward , external, extrinsic; strange, unrelated, foreign].

I needed a new name so I found an online translator and tried varios words, and 'strange' turned up the above, and I liked it, so it is now the name which I go by. The only thing I don't like is that people often abbrev it 'ex' or 'extra' ('ext' is MUCH better =-).

No matter how many years of experience I gain, or schooling I will considered myself a newbie. There is always something to learn technology wise. I've always been a PC user cause, my parents weren't rich so my dad would bring him broken down PCs and fix them so I could play with them. MACS were just too expensive back then.

I'm not perfect. I make newbie mistakes and constantly learning from them. :D

did lots of heavy armor defence. so i was not too fast on the move. would have lots of light armored oponents gang up on me. so when i was out of ammo and had no chance of getting to an invo. well, thats when i would get them in close, and drop all my mines and grenades at once...

My name describes me perfectly :). I get people all the time telling me they like it in games, though a few are confused and think I'm handicapped and in a wheelchair (lol).

EDIT: Started using this a couple years ago in Diablo II. First time I used the name was on a Barbarian I created that used Whirlwind /w a lance.

Years ago, I came up with the name. It is in direct response to so many egotistical people online that have nothing to base their ego on. For example, someone would call himself "The Hulk" so something similar when he was really the most cowardly person I ever met. My brother fell into that category, naming himself ?The Great One?. Someone would call himself "Einstein" yet ended up being one of the dumbest people I've ever chatted with. People named "Beautiful Girl" were usually 500 pound balding men. I could go on, but I think you see my point. People tried to use grandiose nicknames to cover up their lackluster life/personality.

So my name is an attempt to be the exact opposite of what I so commonly saw online. I use a humbling alias and let my posts speak for themselves.

Occasionally people point out the irony in my name, and that is always a good compliment. I?d sure hate to be called ?Einstein? and have people point out the irony in that?

See, people do read your responses to 100+ post threads.
And I'm sorry about the 500-pound balding man you met... It wasn't my best day :)
