Can you "double split" a connection using two routers?

Here's my situation, I share a single IP address between my roommates and I using a linux box set up as a router. Right now, I have one ethernet cable coming into my room, and I have two computers. I'm wondering if there is a way that I can cheaply hook up two computers to a single ethernet connection?

The easy (and relatively cheap) solution would be to just buy another hub and keep it in my room. However, I was hoping there might be a software solution whereby I can put 2 NICs in one computer and run some software to make it act like a hub. Anyone know anything about this?

Am I being cheap, should I just buy another hub?

Yes. Go to the HotDeals forum and look for a promotion for a hub or switch. You can get one for $20-30 nowadays.
Other than that I guess you can put 2 NICs in one machine and run either ICS if you have a windows machine or other software like wingate....

It's not worth the hassle of going the software route. It's a pain to set up, and the computer that is sharing its connection must remain on at all times.

Get a $25 4-port fastethernet switch. Buy.com has a 5-port model for $28 with free shipping right now.

Have seen them on clearance at Staples for as low as 15.00 for a four port Hub.
Yes you are being too cheap.
Byte the bullet and go get a switch and be finished with it. Don't ask the software to do a job that hardware
can do very efficiently.

ICS

Internet connection sharing...not exactly as "high-tech" and "cool" but it'll do the job

You must keep that"hub " pc on all the time however to use the next one

Good luck
