I've been oc'ing my machine, and have hit a brick wall. When I try 154 FSB, I post and when windows starts, there in an error message stating that a file is missing and windows can't continue. I turn the FSB back and no problems at all. I beleive that this error will define what is holding me back. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Here is my post on hardforums that contains my system specs and full details:
follow me..... I am spaceace btw.

can you get to 166? try with liek 1.85v
are you raising Vdimm?

also can you manually initiate the pci/agp divider??
i ask this because you are wondering whether pci/agp will work below speeds, im thinking they might, but if you can manually initiate then give it a shot

also the hd error is from the pci bus going too high
some hd's tend to get flakey at high pci bus's

//edit
i just saw you ram speed, and whoah
maybe put it at a 1:1 ratio and see
if it works, then go back to whatever ratio you were at 4:5 or 4:6 as it will probably be better that way, but it would tell yout that the ram would be the cause

Have you tried to up the voltage more...? If it allows you to boot into windows with a higher voltage its not a hardware problem its the cpu`s limit at a certain voltage... 😉

One other thought...? I`m not very apt on your KT-400 board but if you can lower the memory speed (independant from the fsb ratio) then do so just to be sure its not the memory...?

*I can change the divider to 3-6 in bios.
*In bios I can also change dram clock to: 100:133:166:200.
*When I changed fsb to 155, the ram was near 450 and booted to the same hdd problem with a .1 change in voltage. Would this signify that the ram is not an issue?

What I will try after work tomorrow, is to go to 166 fsb, dram at 166 so to run at 400, 1.85v on cpu. This is the max voltage on my board, so I hope its enough. I'll keep you updated, thanks for your suggestions.

I had the same problem in my MSI KT4 board, it was the IDE controller that couldnt stand high PCI freqs. (188/5=37.5).

I can guarantee that was the problem because it was solved when I got a Promise RAID controller, maybe the HD could be the problem too.

You said you can manually choose the 6 PCI divider, you should definately try that...

If I use the 1/6 divider, I would have to make a huge jump with the fsb to get agp: pci at acceptable levels. Does anyone know if the pc would run stable with agp: pci at 62:31 or even 58:29? If so, this opens up many possibilities for my o/c. Thanks.

well i dont see why it wouldnt be stable...it would just be running a bit slower than usual
try it out and see (that is the best way to go about it)
