Can you cook? POLL!

Well, how many of us ATOTmen can cook?
I can take care of myself in the kitchen, but can You?

The bonus question is about our diet. How much fast food do we consume?

I love to cook.

while not the greatest i can cook a bunch of diffrent things. I cook almost every night. Saturday's we usually go out for dinner and maybe out for lunch on saturday if we are out running around.

Pretty well, I can make lots of things from scratch. My big problem is I don't have the time, so quite often I make some pre-boxed thing, which is almost as bad as fast food with all the crap they put in those things. I'm working on it, though, and I think I can definatly improve things.

I'm a good cook...if you like the kinds of things I make. I tend towards low-fat/high-protein meals, and that variously grossly offends or grosses out the people I know who think every recipe needs to start with a stick of butter melted in the fry pan.

Don't eat fast food; not much of a restaurant person at all, really, except when I'm travelling.

I almost never eat fast food.
I'm about the same level, I'd imagine. All the men in my family cook (except for my dad). Family has owned 2 restaurants and a restaurant supply company. Between that and growing up in New Orleans, cooking is second nature.

However, I do eat fast food about once per week. I rarely know where my job will take me around lunchtime, so I almost always eat out. I try to find something reasonably healthy, but sometimes Wendy's or Taco Bell just sound too good to pass up. 🙂

cooking is fun, a good way to get chicks.

So true. The majority of guys my age (around 20) can't cook worth sh!t, so the fact that I can cook is a good way to stand out.

Of course you have to watch out for "metrosexual" labeling from some guys, but in my case I just point out I can probably bench more than they can...usually shuts them up 😀

You'll only sound metrosexual if you talk like one. I make something I call Chicken: Turkey Style.
You might make the same exact thing, but if you call it "Chardonnay-braised capon with mirepoix and taupe gravy," you're probably going to get some strange reactions 😉

Not much that I can't cook...Baking on the other hand is a mystery to me

I eat fast food only out of necessity. I just wish cooking was less time consuming.

I do most of the cooking in my house. In fact, I do quite a bit of the cleaning as well....hmm, my wife is one lucky woman. 😀

I also do the yard work but she takes out the trash most of the time.

My son will either be well adjusted or confused later in life...

I do most of the cooking for my family, and nobody complains. 🙂

I get lots of compliments when we have people over, too. It must have something to do with working in my uncle's restraunt for a while. He's an excellent chef, and taught me a lot.

Baking is too exacting. You want to make a cake you can't just go "Maybe an egg or two, couple handfuls of flour and sugar, throw in the oven for a few minutes..." It will come out like crap. 🙂

I can do a simple sausage/egg/bacon breakfast ... and hot dogs/hamburgers with ole George Foreman's assistance.

I eat fast food multiple times a week though. Trying to gain weight the lazy way.

I enjoy cooking because I can control what I put into it. I HATE things like butter and mayo, we don't even have them in the house. When we go out, I have to tell them no butter, mayo, etc., but half the time they put it on anyway, like the side veggies. As for fast food, every now and then I get a craving, so I let myself be bad for a day.

Never cooked until about five years ago when the master-baker went back to work after 15 years.

Now, I'd say I'm passable. I'm not much for fast food.

I started cooking when I was about 5. Nothing major, just Mac n' Cheese, but it expanded from there. I now have a large "internal cookbook" of things I can make without even looking at a book, most without even getting out the measuring utensils. I've yet to find anything -- besides a souffle -- that I can't cook. Making it look all pretty and nice, that's a different story. (I have no asthetic taste, at least none beyond "ehh, that doesn't look so good") If I spent time at a culinary institute I could go pro. (Yes, I just said "go pro" in relation to cooking) Which is why I picked the "professional cook" option. 😛

How true...I usually deviate from recipes alot

I've been cooking full meals since I was 10 (with parental supervision obviously heh) I can't stand ready made meals (except for frozen pizzas) I much prefer to cook fresh food.

I only eat fast food every few months but I do like a McDonalds every so often but it is literally once every few months
